Akce, senzační příběh a doprovodná hudba, specifický situační humor a ohromné pocity nostalgie. To vše nám nabízí MDK série her, které by rozhodně neměly být jen tak zapomenuty.
První díl byt vytvořen roku 1997 studiem Shiny Entertainment pro Microsoft Windows. Hra byla vydána v Severní Americe Playmates Interactive a v Evropě opět Shiny Entertainment. Později byla zpřístupněna na Mac a PlayStation. Hráčům bylo umožněno hru zakoupit na GOG.com od roku 2008 a na Steamu o rok později.
Druhý díl, který již nese název MDK 2, byl vytvořen na prvopočátku nového milénia, tedyroku 2000 již všem známým studiem BioWare a vydán Interplay Entertainment.
Oba díly mají charakter third-person akčních stříleček. Fakt, že je zde pouze jeden herní mode a to singleplayer však nepotěší milovníky multiplayerových pří. To jim však na hratelnosti vůbec neubírá, ba naopak.
Během prvního dílu je děj více zaměřen na Kurta Hectic, hrdinu oblečeném ve speciálním obleku, který se hrdinou vlastně nikdy stát nechtěl. Snaží se zde ochránit Zemi před mimozemskou invazí, která zde ničí vše živé za účelem získání našich nerostných surovin. V druhém díle po úspěšném boji proti cizokrajným protivníkům se dává větší prostor dalším dvěma postavám při opětovném napadení Země. Na jedné straně zde máme Maxe, čtyřnohého (či rukého, záleží na vašich preferencích) robotického psa, vytvořeného Dr. Flukem Hawkinsem, přiměřeně šíleným profesorem, který na nepřátelé útočí především prostřednictvím své mysli a jí vytvořenými udělátky, jako je například atomový topinkovač, a na druhé straně zase naše malé exotické narušitele.
Daný spor zde není však tím hlavním předmětem dění. A o co tedy v této old-but-gold hře vlastně jde? HUMOR. Ať už jde o samotné cutscény, během kterých se budete popadat za břicho od smíchu, drobné poznámky v okolí (zrcadlo v koupelně s nápisem: ,,Váš odraz v zrcadle není v tuto chvíli k dispozici“), zvláštní vymoženosti (mluvící záchody) či navždy zapamatovatelné hlášky naší trojce. Za zmínku také určitě stojí fakt, že samotná trojce ví o vaší existenci a podporuje vás ve vaší cestě (Max se při vaší delší neaktivitě začne po vás ohlížet a nervózně kouřit doutník). Mimozemšťané vám tleskající v danou chvíli, kdy je masakrujete, jsou minimálně úsměvní. Velice roztomilý je také detail kurzoru myši, který při hře za Maxe vypadá jako psí tlapka.
Hra je specifická nejen svým typem humoru, ale také grafickým zpracováním. Samozřejmě, že není pro každého, jelikož si málokdo v dnešní době potrpí na tak staré herní žánry už jen z tohoto hlediska. Můžeme vám však slíbit, že pokud přes toto přejdete, tak vás čeká několik hodin naprosto šílené zábavy.
